Need help in removing my throttle and idle cables from my 2010 Wide Glide
Dyna Glide ModelsSuper Glide, Super Glide Sport, Super Glide Custom, Dyna Glide Convertible, Super Glide T-Sport, Dyna Glide Police, Dyna Switchback, Low Rider, Street Bob, Fat Bob and Wide Glide.
Do you see those two little tubes beneath your throttle? Pull back their rubber boots and you will find two nuts (pun), loosen them up to create slack and the cables and ferrules will slide right out.
Same thing goes for the clutch cable.
Don't forget to re adjust those cables once you are done. Keep the bike in neutral until you find he right throttle response and rebound.
So there I was, minding my own business, installing my new 34" braided Barnett throttle and idle cables when, low and behold, the cables are both 1-1/2" too short! The housing length is 34" but I cannot get them on the throttle grip because they are both too short. I contacted the place I ordered them from, now I just have to wait for them to respond...
Oh, by the way, it is snowing... so I won't be riding any time soon. Thank the Good Lord for small favors...
basically the majority of the people on here, got it right. I just did this about 5 mins ago to my bike. hold the housing in one hand, then grab the 90 degree angled part of the cables that butts right up against the housing and pull until you feel like it's gonna break, then pull a little harder and rock it back and forth. It will come out. the new ones will push right in without any problems. there is no need to remove any type of retaining ring or clamp of any sort. the tiny ring in side (If you can even see it) will compress as you pull. at first i thought the ring had to come out too, but it doesn't. like i said, i just did this about 5 mins ago on my bike without any problems and without removing any pins/ rings/ clips of any kind. thanks to all that pointed me in the correct direction on this topic.
To the OP..always ask..never assume. You have internet and I'm sure pay for it. Wealth of knowledge on here. And some of it is correct...hehe. Glad you got your problem solved.
