Default Need 5000 mile service

Went by the stealership to get a service manual, and they didn't have one for an 06' dyna. Said they'd order me one. I asked why not just order about five of them. You know you'll need them??? Dumbasses.

Anyway, would somebody with a service manual please tell me if it's just an oil change, and if not, what else I need to do?? I won't have the service manual for another week, and I want to get this service taken care of before then.

Psych, I put a scan in my gallery for you, if you are interested.

Click the gallery pic to enlarge, then repeat the click to enlarge again.

They don't call for checking the critical fasteners (huh??) at 5000.

I check them often.

I drained the three cavities, then picked it up on the jack for the rest.

Last item is to road test. Right. Daily.

The service manual is really handy to reference the various adjustments.

Have all your parts and pieces on hand before you start, of course.

I stretched my 5000 over a few days.

edited to add: also in your owners manual, page 171.

all U you need to do is change the primary fluid, Tranny oil, and engine oil, check tire air pressure. Suggest using Redline Shockproof gear oir for the tranny. Check clutch adjustment; should be be no more than more than a dime width between the clutch lever and clutch housing; if less than adj. clutch cable. Don't get **** over servicing the bike ; been there. Change engine oil & filter with synthetic every 3k miles.

have fun and ride!

Hope the picture helps psych.

A suggestion - when you do receive your SM from the dumbasses,
take it straight to Kinkos.

Have it spiral bound. My 1st manual came unglued at the binding.

My parts man, not a dumbass, he's a smartass, did warranty the POS
and I had Kkos do the spiral thing before I ever opened it. About $6.

Your book may not come unglued. Even if it don't, spiral bound is better.

That's my take, I use it a lot.

If you get the Enthusiast Magazine, the fall 2005 issue has an article called More Than Slippery. It tells you that oils can be changed not all at the same times.

Did my 5000 mile service today. Everything went smooth as it should until I came to the derby cover. It must have been a Friday at the MoCo when somebody put the 5 torx screws into the derby cover when they built my bike. 3 were almost tight and 2 were so tight that I ended up stripping the heads and had to drill & eazy out them. Ended up going to the dealer and buying 5 chrome allen head bolts. $1.05 a piece. Tim
