I don't remember there being a safety switch on these bikes in 08. I worked in the assembly plant as an intern engineer, and I remember one of the test riders would just be messing around, and leave the stand down when he took off.....
By the way how do you take out the safety switch under the side stand ?
Do you just pulling it out ? - I think its attached with two screws in the frame
yep I am thinking the same probably its the safety switch - I will try taking it out and clean it with WD-40 . I will also lubricate the "switch" on the handle bar (inside the clutch) maybe also it helps.
From the day I start using the bike winter time all internal connections seem to need lubrication and cleaning ...
I'll let you know on the results
WD-40, like all oil, attracts and holds dirt, dust and other nastiness. I might try some brake cleaner or something on that order. And IF (only IF) your manual calls for lubrication, then use the proper lubricant. Do NOT (no way) use carb cleaner to clean it with. I don't trust that stuff. Brake cleaner is the duck tape of sprays, you should always have a can on hand.
I'd also just spray one switch at a time. If the first one don't work, try the 2nd one. If that one works, then you've narrowed down your problem.

My owners manual says that some international models have it. The U S models don't. It even goes into some detail about it.
The problem here is probably a sticky switch. If you are going to lube it I would use some lithium spray on lube sprayed only on the button area of the switch.
yep at the end it was the switch located underneath attached to the frame close to the sidestand area - took it out clean it and now it seems its working again ..
