Do you just love the sound of what you just installed? If so you can install torque cones. They did wonders for me. Thought they were just a gimmick. SO not the case. Otherwise, baffles are the answer.
Neil, they changed the shape of the exhaust port on the Twin Cams from the shape of your Evo heads ... supposedly the torque cones are not necessary on TC, and won't work ....
However, as I understand the old 'trick' of using a bolt or eye-bolt through the end of the tailpipe still works to restore some of the low / mid-range torque ... I suppose works on the same principal as the baffles ....

I'm about 99% sure Sniper77 is using torque cones with his shortshots and he claimed it helped out a lot. He's got an '06 Street Bob. I'm sure he can chime in about it.
So, to follow up on this. I pulled a good one and did what I remember reading another member did a while back. I needed to ride to a town about 40 mi away tonight but didn't want to use these poor performing, obnoxious sounding mufflers so I switched back to my stock ones. I noticed that one of the clamp bolts felt funny when I tightened it-it tightened too fast-but I was in a hurry as usual. On the return trip, when I was almost home, I noticed a huge noise, like someone with straight pipes was passing me-but there was no one there! It finally dawned on me that it was my own bike making all the noise-because my mufflers FELL OFF! I hadn't heard or felt a thing otherwise. I turned around, found them and happened to have the ratchet and sockets I installed them with in my bags so could get going pretty quick but oh man, what a dope. I'm surprised to admit the bike sounded awfully good, tho!
