Another thing is to not pump it too fast.

Give it a couple slow squeezes and you may feel the pressure start to build up.

I ended up figuring this out too. After about the 40th single pump, where I'd pull the lever, tape it down, then move to the bleeder valve to let it bleed, I found I could pump it several times slowly with much better results. I'd never bled anything but myself before so this was all new ground for me.

I use a large syringe (bought from a feed store) and a few feet of clear plastic tubing. I open the bleed nut and pump the brake fluid UP through the cable to the reservior. You can watch the reservior as the upward-bound fluid automatically purges the bubbles.

If you have a Harbor Freight store close by, check this out. I have one and it works great.

In this case, "close by" is as close as your computer.

The way to bleed brkes on anything is to put a vacuum hose on the bleeder and a small jar with some brake fluid in the jar. Open the bleeder and sweeze the handle to remove the air. Just make sure that you have fluid in the master cylinder.
