So bought a quick release windshield for my Lowrider. I put it on and take it for a ride. The wind is so bad coming around it flips my go T into my nose and blows my Tshirt up around my head. So I go back home grab some tools and off I go. No matter what I do it does not help. Did I waste my money or is there a solution. It like I'm sitting on a fan.
Been there done that , I had one on my 1999 low rider for like a week and between the wind and the shield it was like i was trying to sail a sailboat instead of riding a motorcycle , the wind pushes against the windshield so hard it's moves the motorcycle , NEVER AGAIN !
Ha. I have the same problem on my Bike. I don't have quick release but it is a small sport type windshield I put on to break the buffeting at higher freeway speeds.
I'm getting too damn old to take that kind of pounding for long.
I have a full face helmet I wear during the winter but for warmer weather I wear my half helmet. (here in Kalifornia we don't have freedom of choice).
I tried wearing a bandanna but it was still hot and a pain to take it off and put it on when just riding here and there.
The solution I came up with was to use those little rubber pony tail bands to wrap my beard and then tuck it under my chin strap.
Now, if I could just figure out how to stop my mustache from tickling my nose I'd be all set.
I had a quick release windshield on my Sportster. I would adjust the angle of the shield. I had to put some duct tape inside the area that would sit on top of the headlight when the shield is in the most upright position. The reason for the tape was to minimize the reflection from the light when I would position the shield so I could look over it. Are you able to adjust the angle of the shield? If not you may have to check out other shields. Hope it helps.
Jeff
Lots of little things can help but I have never got a shield set-up to were I like it. I have tried about a 1/2 dozen shields and have come to the conclusion I am not a wind shield guy. Still have a quick detach but will probally sell it soon.
During love bug season I usually tape saran wrap in between my apes. That is my windshield. LOL. Throw that sucker away man. You don't need no sticking windshield.
ive got a memphis shades ''bladerunner'' it works good ,looks kick *** on my 02 fxdx...it comes in clear or gradiant colors ...mines clear fades to black.will post pics of my scoot soon as i can
I have the same problem with mine also. Unfortunately it got really bad about 300 miles from home and blew the damned visor off of my helmet. I stopped and got it but it was too badly scratched to save. I had to run about 20 mph for about 1/2 hour until I found a gas station with sunglasses. What a pain. I will still put it on the bike for the long interstate trips, but I'll wear sunglasses instead of a visor.
