I believe Burly and Progressive are the same company so the drop-in kits will perform the same. The difference will be in the oil weight and the spacers to get the ride you are looking for.
Used progressives drop in kit.. the quick job one..includes a fork spring, compensation spring and a white pvc spacer.I found that with a pvc spacer cut 1" the SB dropped 2"..with a 2" spacer it dropped 1".. the 2" drop was way to firm so opted for the 1" drop on the front..sort of a compromise
So after 3 or 4 emails back and forth with progressive, they recommended I drop the fork oil level from 3 3/4 to 5 1/2 inches to compensate for the 2 inch drop in the front end. I put in the Screaming Eagle heavy fork oil while I had everything apart and dropped the level down to 5 1/2 inches from the top of the fork tube. The result is over 2 inches of travel in the front end now. I guess the factory level of fork oil with the lowered springs was causing some kind of hydraulic lock. Front end is %200 better, and im a happy guy. Even got around to installing my apes. Thanks for all the input and for anyone out there with the slammer kit, drop that oil level, it makes a huge difference.
i have the burly shocks on the back of mine and the progressive drop ins up front and cut the spacer down to 1/2 an inch. the only problem is the pot holes . other than that i have no complaints. i do plan on changing for oils one day but its not bad enough to tear into it yet. i did 135 miles or so yesterday on it and only had one bad hole that i hit.
I just finished installing the kit on my 09' bob, I cut my spacers to 1 1/4" and seem to have quite a bit of travel and it still lowered the bike a lot. I think these guys are all on to something with going to a heavier weight fork oil. I haven't done it myself, but will asap.
