Default Speedometer help.

I just got a 04 dyna superglide. The guy i got it from had took off the speedometer and added ape bars and a wide glide front end with a fat front tire. I am wanting to put a speedometer and the idiot light back on it. How the heck can i do this. I cant figure out how i even start. I dont like the stock look on a dyna with the speedometer on the bars. i would like to do a riser mount or something. any help will be apreciated. thanks!

Welcome to the forum from the Netherlands, butler.

Go to the Dyna Glide Models Section, click the "Search this Forum" button (right hand top corner) and enter "speedo relocation" in the text box.

Now click "Go" and you'll find tons of info and images on this subject.

Enjoy the forum and ride safe,

The wiring stubs are probably there somewhere, maybe clipped and taped to the harness under the tank. Get a wiring diagram for your bike, which will have color codes for all the wires. Now just connect the proper wires together to your new instrument wiring. You might want to buy a used factory gauge set-up to assure proper wire colors, then mount the idiots and gauges where you see fit.

The first thing I would do as HemiOrange has suggested is to see about the wiring harness. Most likely the speedo and idiot lights were just disconnected and the wires and harness are tucked up in the frame probably under the gas tank. If they are there you are more than half way home. You have a few options as far as speedo and idiot lights go. You can go with an analog or digital gauges. They have mounts for the handlebars, the fork tubes hell they even have mirrors with the speedo built into them. As far as idiot lights go you can get a handle bar clamp that has them built in. I run mine that way and I have seen others do it to. You can get individual led lights and drill out your dash for a custom setup. Some have mounted them off of the headlight. Some don't even bother with them at all. The possibilities are endless. But like was stated before check to see if the wires and connectors are still there as this will make the job easier. You still might need to adjust the lengths of the wires depending on what type of speedo you go with and were it will be located.
