Ok I'm out of my element here. I ran into a heck of a deal on a Super Glide for the wife but the stock bars aren't going to cut it. She's in the 5'2" range. Mini apes are what I think will work. Some thing in the 10 to 12 inch range. My question would be "who and where ". What do you all find is the best for looks and comfort in swapping bars ?
Have you considered risers? Harley dealers offer a workshop on best position, you could see if your local shop has some ideas.
That is a good idea. Those buckhorns are a nice width, but everything else about them is just wrong. It'd be nice if she could try different heights, widths, pull-back and wrist angles. Risers and bars are a relatively inexpensive way to experiment on your own. That's what I did, now I have a set of T-bars to install that mimic the riser/bar combo that best suited me.
Don't go too narrow, she will need the added leverage of wider bars. Also try to fit her bars so that her wrists align straight with her forearms and adjust the levers so that she doesn't need to bend her wrists to pull them.
Is she going to stay with the mid-controls? They will give her more control. You should figure that out first, then fit her with bars.
Yes she is not going to put forward controls on. The bar need to come up and back. Ill have to do some measuring with her on the bike. From that point I will need to have some ideas of what bars work well with an FXD. Thanks for the help.
I like the look . If risers are the way to go , those ones look the best so far. I think riser can look great on some bikes and terrible on others . I beat my self to death before I put a set of Yaffe bars on my glide. That's why I'm picking ya'll's brains . I don't want to go through that again. Thanks for the help.
