Default Cone shaped A/C cover

I'm considering to make a cone shaped A/C cover for my FXD2003....

....have it chromed and finish it off with my 100th Ann. A/C cover....

Before I start cutting, shaping and welding I would like to receive some input on this question:

How much free air flow space do you think I'll need between the cone and the air filter?

What is it you are trying to accomplish with the cone?

Nothing special, Richard.
I just want the cover to follow the lines of the A/C and not use a round EVO style or the TC football style A/C cover....

Wow I had that same idea, when your done I would really like to see pics. I agree 1/4 to 3/8 gap, more gap more air flow.

OIC you will want more than a 1/4" then, that would choke the airflow off too much. The minimum should be 1/2" I would probably go with a 3/4" gap so I still had free flowing air.

Agree with the 1/2" min.

Thanks for chiming in, guys!

Using your date in Cone Layout I will be able to make a cardboard mock-up to see how it looks...

Will be continued!
