I can't believe no one has done this yet? From all the research I have done the 2006 thru 2011 Wide Glides most parts interchange. I recently bought a 2006 Wide Glide with only 3000 miles so it's barely broken in and I got it at a good price but I love the look of the 2010-2011 Wide Glides. My plans are to sell or swap the 06 fender, tail light, seat, sissy bar, mini ape handle bars, windshield, etc.and convert my 06 to look more like a 2010.
I was wondering if anyone else has done this or even thought about it?
Pros Vs Cons?
You could probably get a 06-08 Street Bob fender and chop it to resemble the newer Wide Glide.
You could get a 10-11 WG tank and console and swap them, then it is mostly the bars and you would nearly have a clone.
+1 on that, however i think Harley makes a chopped fender kit you can get that would fit.....
How much wider? I am a aircraft mechanic and I do alot of sheet metal repairs so I feel comfortable adjusting the rear frame to fit the fender if need be.
Does anyone have a damaged 2010 rear fender they want to part with, or can someone give me the measurments?
Thanks
To make it fit you would have to chop off the struts and re-weld them, it would be much easier to mod the fender than the struts. If you ride 2up much I would not mod the struts, they support all the passenger weight.
