The tyre has worn patchy because its going out of balance as it wears, that is quite normal.

Dude, it isn't just rain that is gonna kill you with a tyre like that, it will affect your dry braking distances too.

All tyres (or tires if you are in the US) have wear indicator bars moulded in them and they appear as a bridge across the tread grooves in various places once the tyre gets to its useable limit. Once one of these becomes visible you need a new tyre and yes, you needed one 2000 miles ago.....

If I was you I would get a new tire.

Before putting on the new tire though, do some nice long burn outs! Not only will you have fun, you'll be able to use up any remaining rubber.

I am gonna join in the pissing and moaning here about tyre replacement.

Look at it this way, if a car driver lost control and killed your old lady because he was running on bald tyres you would wanna whip his *** and you'd be all "Damn cage drivers, never gave my old lady a chance!"

Don't be a hypocrite dude and keep an eye on your tyres, its not big, its not clever and its not funny....even slicks have wear indicators!!!! (These are small holes around the tyre, when they disappear the tyre is shot as the carcass is too near the surface of the tyre.)

And more useful information - well, more fun than useful.

And it's a good thing you know everything about bikes, so that I can ask these questions!
You basically said in the above post that you already knew the answer to your post. I wouldnt ride with ya!

Very true. My tire had more tread than that when I replaced it and I could get it to break loose around corners and drift a bit. It was like it gave me more horse power! With the new tire the fun is gone, time to go big with the old 88 incher I guess....

Good thing I didn't ask you!!!

It sucks that some people have to ruin it for others to learn.

Don't get the Dunlop tire that's on the new wide glide. They don't last very long at all with any type of aggressive riding.
