There is so much heat down there when the bikes running. wouldn't that more or less seal the loctite in there? I would think it would requite a large impact wrench to remove the derby cover then.. or am I wrong?

You are right on the money! I am not a bike expert, but have spent my life in the racing industry so I feel blue loctite is a must on a bike due to vibration- An impact driver is probably standard equipment for most harley techs. Proper tools are much cheaper than replacing damaged fittings. Using an impact driver with the correct socket is actually easier than trying to force it with a torx screw driver or similar tool. You can purchase a small unit at most aftermarket tool suppliers for under 20 bucks.

Nowhere in the Dyna manual does it recommend this use of loctite on the derby cover, personally I think it will just set you up for stripping the screws - never used it on mine, never lost a screw and when removed they come off with a nice little crack - telling me they were tight because they were torqued to spec.
