Hey crew, how yall doing? I'm looking to go stage one through out the winter season. I will begin by telling yall what I already have and what I'm looking for.
Vance & Hines slip ons
and, well thats it really.
I like to go fast ( above 85mph) SOMETIMES, but hardly ever.
I usually like to keep the bike 85mph and BELOW.
I'm understanding that full stage one would include Heavy breather, more free flowing pipes and a fuel managment.
1. I would love a new set of Vance & Hines Short shot staggered Black, but for $459 bucks, I would like to know if I could save that and use my slip-ons. Don't know if they would do the trick or not, or if I could remove the baffle( and only if My bike didn't suffer from it), or switch to BCT baffles?
2. Air intake, I already have a hypercharger on my Honda VTX 1300 and am not very impressed for what it cost.
Am looking for a open filter set up such as K&N heavy breather, a SCREAMING EAGLE heavy breather, Spike air filter, or even Barrons Big sucker. Not sure what intake would work for me and considering I'm looking for torque and horsepower, not so much top end speed, plus I generally slow down in the corners to about 10 mph above the speed limit.
Any idead on the best bang for my buck or any ideas on which set up to stay clear of?
3. Thinking of Vance & Hines Fuelpak. Seems like a good user friendly product and accurate from what they say. WHAT DO YOU GUYS SAY THOUGH is what I'd like to know. Are there other products that are being used that are as usefull and easy to use for less price or something way better than V&H Fuelpak.
Some of the guys I run with are running the 96" twin cam and the 103"s and I'd like to not get a facial of exhaust when I run with them.
I'm now only Jonesing for these items, but not in the market just yet, but trying to get all my homework in.
I had the Fuelpak and it was not impressed with it, although it seems to work well for some bikes, just not mine. You can try the XIEDs to get more fuel into the mix. They are around $100 (less if you can one in the for sale section), easy to install and remove. Other than that, the most affordable fuel management device would be a PC III or 5.
Look into them at nightrider.com and do a search here. I got the Ness Big Sucker since it was not expensive and does the job. Keep the slip ons for starters. They won't add to your power but will do until you get a full system if you decide.
I did the V&H 3" slash cut slip ons, SE Stage 1 Open Air with AC cover and the V&H FuelPak on my 2010 FXDC and it all worked nicely for me - really woke the bike up. I'm happy with it!
Keep the slip ons for now.
Add a arlen ness big sucker on sale on e-bay for 99.99 in chrome
Go to nightrider.com and order the Xied's for 104. delivered
So for just over 200. you will be done and be able to enjoy your bike. It will have more power and run cooler.

There's your biggest bang for your buck
Just cross your fingers that you don't get any decel pop.
Just cross your fingers that you don't get any decel pop.
Thats an easy fix, just block off the Post Air Injection System thats created and intended to burn off the excess fuel left in combustion chamber after letting off the gas.
decel pop huh? i got 6 months to take back the bike to the shop and have it dyno'd. I got the heavy breather, V&H Big Shots, and the HD Tuner, they put the tune on it that they had on file, but I'm concerned about the sounds it makes while decelerating...not sure if they are abnormal. wondering if I should just take it in and complain, and get it dyno'd for free, or not fix what might not be broke. besides that, the bike feels much faster than before, less hesitation on the throttle. any thoughts?
