I was bored with the look of my bike so I decided to paint the mufflers on my cycle shack pipes. I intended to take off the pipes, but it was cold. So I opted to block off the bike with trash bags. I scuffed the mufflers with a medium sanding block. I used Rustoleum Hi-Temp flat black paint and went to town. I did 3 light coats then when it looked dry I ran the bike for a few minutes. Put the heat shields back on and there you go. In retrospect I should've drilled holes on heat shields but I was worried I would mess them up. Now I regret it. Saw a post here where a guy drilled holes with a power drill and it looked great.
I don't know how durable the finish will be, but touch ups shouldn't be hard at all. Other guys on the forum have painted their pipes as well with good results. Well see.
Like your battery box bag. Does it leave marks on the rear fender? Looks kind of close. I wouldn't mind having one of those. Where did you get it?
Pipes look good BTW. I drilled my belt guard out using a 3/8s hole saw, easy to do.
I've used a lot of hi-temp flat black on my bike and it's been holding up well. Your pipes look great.
I like that bag beside your seat...what's the story on that?
good to know about the hi-temp paint.
As for batter bag, easy to do. It's a wal-mart fork bag (about $20.00). Took off battery cover and took of battery band. Used the existing holes on the battery cover to mark the holes on the fork bag. Drilled holes and used 4 flat head screws with washers and nuts (flat head on the battery side, nuts on the bag side). Reinstalled battery cover.
This is my second one. My first one sagged too much because I overloaded it with tools (I had the boy scout "always be prepared" thing going on). Make sure you fit bag carefully before you drill holes. Watch out that it's not touching pipes.
