i know it's been discussed over and over, but i still haven't found the right information i'm looking for. i'm currently in the process of cleaning up my bars on a 2007 dyna street bob. so far i've attached a toggle switch to the light bucket to control my head light. i've taken away both turn signals and the horn. the new throttle housing is on its way, but in the mean time i'm having a hell of time with the new starter button. the original set up had a black and white wire come from the start button and a gray and white wire come from the kill switch, with the white wires connecting to each other. my question is, what is the proper way to wire the new momentary start button? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
What kind of switch/button are you putting on? If it is a switch your old kill switch wires should go to your new on/off contacts of your new switch then the start button wires to your momentary contacts of the new switch.
the turn signals have been long gone. the horn is non exsistent. i'm going to a jockey shift. all i'm looking to run is just the front brake and throttle.
Remove the stock RUN/OFF switch, tape it into the "Run" position and tuck it under the tank, or, as an alternative, remove the RUN/OFF switch and solder the two wires together. Move the factory starter switch and tuck it under the tank as well. Take that O'Reilly's thing back and get one of these:
You will still be able to have ignition key control; the only difference is that the direct plunger button will kick the starter over for you, bypassing the relay. You might have to reach around a pipe to get to it like I do (I push it in with my thumb), but I like the stealth and anti-theft factor.
the solenoid push button is installed
the gray and white run/off wires are wired up to each other
i press the start button and it cranks
not starting though

Did you turn the key on? You will still need to do that.
