I don't think I would. Your in Ohio, I see. Kickstarts are tempramental, I have heard. Outside temp goes down a little, they just do not want to turn over. In Ohio, you may be fighting with the kicker more than loving it.
Forum member Yocumbros converted from efi to carb ...
... no kick starter ... but, one bad-as$ bobber ... click through the blue arrow by his name below for the thread and more on his bike ...

P.S. Where did you hide the exhaust hanger, or is there one?
The carb was a personal preference, I prefer the look of the carb. and its simplicity on this bike. Im familiar with tuning both carbs and F.I. setups so that really didn't weigh in on my decision.
The exhaust tubes attach to one of the factory studs on the upper rear part of the trans. - its hard to see from the top or side
i'm thinking his turn signals are in a box in the garage and i'll bet dollars to donuts that on the left side of the bike theres a sidemount plate and taillight setup.
Mmmmm donuts, your exactly right on the signals and taillight
by far the nicest one i have seen! by far!!! you got a carb on there! how the hell did you rock that?
Thanks, Its a super E kit, I just had to weld up the MAP sensor hole in the S&S intake and make some changes to the tank. Im using the ThunderHeart stand alone ign system that uses only the crank sensor. The preformance picked up a little already and I havent dialed it in yet so Im stoked so far. Im going to use a wide band with a data logger and tune it on the street for now.
alright bro this is fukin awesome... i was totally looking forward to getting the rocket bobs setup but after seeing this i personally like the way it looks even better..if i might ask you what fender is that and where did u get those brass wing nuts
Thanks, the fender is from Led Sled, it closely resembles a 1936 Ford spare tire cover and the wingnuts are from McMaster-Carr.
Alright ... I think this is what you are trying to do ...
There was a Dyna ('06 Street Bob) featured in a recent issue of American Iron magazine (Jun 2011) that converted to carb and Baker kick start ... I was trying to find photos of the bike online ... it is sporting a leaf spring front end and faux pan head rocker boxes with a Sporty-style tank ... rigid struts in place of rear suspension and a FL-style rear fender rolled forward a few degrees ... found a couple of photos on ganster choppers blog (Jan 2012 - shoot first) ...
The bike has a S&S Shorty E carb modified for use with the Twin Cam ... uses a Joe Hunt Magneto and a Baker kickstarter ...
So ... I guess maybe less the leaf spring, hard rear suspension and magneto this may be what you're looking to do ... at least you have evidence it can be done ...

I've owned kickstart only carbed bikes and while cool, I wouldn't modify my reliable Street Bob to go backwards. You could use that money to put toward an older Shovel or Ironhead project and end up with two bikes and have the best of both worlds with a lot less headache.
