Looking at plati-dipping my lowers and tripple trees. For the ones that have left everything assempled, how well did the coating turn out on the inside of the fork tubes? Were you able to spray an even coat in there?
Well I've followed this thread for pages and pages... Feels good to be able to post! I went to town with PlastiDip. Did the entire sissy bar, mirrors and signals. Funny you just asked about the lower forks, I did them today.. It may look sloppy and ugly, but they came out INCREDIBLE! I also threw on 3 coats of clear matte. They don't have the rubbery feel anymore, just smooth and clean.
Also did the gas tank as well. Bought the bike and it was a combination of 5-6 colors, finally getting it the way I want! Feels good. Thanks to everyone for posting on this thread!

You mention clear matte. Was that a clear matte plasti coat or paint. I have thought about painting a clear over the plasti dip. This way to protect it a little better. I know plasti dip sells a clear.
@Pontiac69
I used just a basic clear coat paint, used the matte finish, cant even tell its on. Just takes away the rubbery coating. I noticed things constantly stick to the Plastidip and learned my lesson when I tried to wipe with a dry rag...

That's not a good idea. Using regular paint on Plastidip can weaken it. Regular plastidip takes about a week to cure, I paint an average of 2-3 bikes a week with it. Give it as much sunshine as you can, it will stop feeling tacky. If you want to clear it, only use the Plastidip clear or smoke. Regular paints tend to dissolve the binding agents in PlastiDip.
