So I installed the V&H big radius 2-2 on my new 2012 Wide Glide. I will be installing a SE heavy breather and the Power Vision tuner from Fuel Moto, but not until I have enough money. The exhaust has the decel pop I've read about and doesnt sound clean. Ive only put 5 miles with the new pipes on there so it might get better right? I've heard the O2 sensor's can compinsate and get the bike running to the factory set up, so lean. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to get the sound more contraolled with less poping?
They will adapt to a degree but only a tuner will cure the problem - you can try cracking the throttle slightly as you decelerate and that will help keep it from happening.

its been said before, but here goes, the bikes are set lean from the factory to "Meet" EPA laws, and when you put a free flowing exhaust and Air cleaner "you " make it even More leaner [same fuel amount but More air flow] by allowing more air to flow thou the engine then the factory "Map" setting for A/F mixture, buy putting a "tuner" on you can adjust the "map" to a slightly richer mixture, But this also allows you to set timing, idle, decel fuel cut......and so on, if you put a "patch" [not recommended] xied or what ever they are called, you are "tricking" the base map set in the ecm to bias "a little bit richer" to "help" with the lean condition.
I have Thundermax with autotune on my 05 Ultra with a 95' and true dual rineharts, and my wife has a Sert on her 08' Dyna with a 103, V&H big radius
Quiet baffles will help if available for the radius pipes. They don't quiet the bike much, but the exhaust will be deeper and not have a major decel pop. They worked great on my straight shots without a tune.

Big City Thunder QQ baffles are available and do improve the sound and performance a bit, especially mid-range torque.
Check your exhaust nuts as loose nuts will also cause decel popping. Let the motor cool completely and re-torque.
