My Race tech spring arrived yesterday. The service manual says they should be 17" yet I measured and tehy are only 15". Shall I send them back and get the 17" springs as I am not looking to lower the front end or use an extra 2" on the spacer? What do you guys think? It clearly stated int eh ebay ad that these springs were for the application of the FXDX which has the same front end as the FXDXT.
Your thoughts? And thoughts on what weight oil? I am thinking SE heavy.
i would call them to verify fitment....def good guys to work with.. if your using the gold valves ask them which fluid to use as they know which will work the best with the springs.....i used the sparto 15 wt, but i also drilled out the damper rods per thier instructions....it gave me a firmer front end which is what i wanted...
personally i would not drop the front end on your scoot man it is built more to handle and ride over just looking cool and slammed... besides you ahev one that is slammed! hahahaha send me those valves, ill hold on to them for you hahaha
I have no desire to lower the bike at all. It clearly stated in the ebay ad that they were for the fxdx 2001-2005 so I guess they will get sent back. These ebay sellers are just not the best with descriptions. I should have called. Live and learn.
in the future bud whenever i buy fork springs (i usually buy progressive springs off ebay) i always first contact progressive to get the part numbers and ask fitment... then compare that to what is in the add... just did that for my bandit front end on Monday!

Race Tech offers so many different KG rated springs for each application that it doesnt make any sense to buy from anybody other than Race Tech.
You NEED the correct KG springs specific for your weight, anything less is gonna hurt handling in a big way.
Call Race Tech and confirm the Pt# you need for your weight and application. Buy from Race Tech and send the other ones back if they arent the ones Race Tech says to use.
I got the proper KG but they are too short. I'll figure this out over the weekend. Called Race Tech 3 times yesterday and was unable to actually get anyone on the phone.
Back to the cracked TH bracket. I brought it to work to weld it today. I am thinking I might cut the mounting portion fo the V&H bracket I avhe and weld that to the TH end portion as it seems that would work well. I much prefer the way the V&H bracket mounts to that of the TH bracket. I'm gonna ask a master welder in a bit ehre and see what he thinks is a better idea.
After talking with a master welder it is a better idea to just weld the th bracket and be done with it so that is what will be done. We'll see what happens.
