Since I had a chance to examine the bike closely over the weekend I wanted to report back on the black finish ont eh D&D fatcat after a few thousand miles. All I have to compare this to is the TH which had sort of a brown tint to.
I am happy to say that the fatcat is still good as new and super black. There is no discoloration at all. It looks like it did right after it was installed. This pipe is not inexpensive but I avhe to say for a black pipe for a Dyna that gives great power, has great looks, and a really good sound this is the choice for me. The fact that the flanges that are welded on come in black along with the entire pipe under the heat shields is another bonus.
Hats off to D&D for another high quality product. This is the only closeup I have of the pipe with me from yesterday. I was digging my saddlebag rain covers when I washed the bike as they kept the bags nice and dry.
So the FXR canvas and leather bags are in, I'll get pics in a bit. What I need to know is how to mount these things. They have the same brackets as the fxdxt bags. Do the brackets just slide over the head of a bolt or is there some sort of special quick detach hardware? If someone can snap a few pics for me that would be great. For some reason I just thought I can actually check my manual as well. It's at home of course. Too funny. Thanks guys.

Another option I am considering is a qd rack that will work on my bike. IS there such a thing? I see Harley has one for 06 and newer Dyna's but I am not sure what the difference is between them and my bike. It seems my rear fender measures 8" wide. If you have an 06 and up measure your fender and let me know how wide it is. Also, are your strut bolts 10 3/8" apart? Any help is much appreciated gentlemen.
Yes, HD made a solo rack for FXDX/FXDXT's. I have a black coated one which I use for my leather Pro small trunk. It uses the std qd hw. Also easily works with the Boss/LP QD system.
I have a 2000 HD accessory book so I will post the part number tonight when I get home for you to search for one if you need to take that option. I think they were only chrome though. The original owner of my FXDX had this one PC black.

Thanks PhotoRider. My buddies FXDP got delivered yesterday and it looks like the struts don't have the covers on them which may account for the difference in width between mine and the police model. Not sure as I avhe not had a chance to measure the width in the fender but that is what I think. We'll find out when I get my hands one one of these racks.
On a side note, here is the breakdown on the bag mounting, the part I need the bushing which is number 2 in the pic. It looks different than the quick detach mounts for the sissy bar. http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....-STEERING-STEM
