I did a bunch of research on the Mikuni HSR 42 and nobody has any issues with the fitment or bracket spacing. However it seems that the info on the web is that the Mikuni Carb does NOT like the James gaskets intake doughnut gasket and a stock gasket should be used for the Mikuni carb to intake flange.
Well I do have a James gasket on the carb. Hmmm. that is strage but I guess I will be switching that gasket when I get a chance. thanks for doing the research, much appreciated. The dealer is closed today or I'd grab a stock one, guess I'll pick one up tomorrow. Once again, thanks!

I also just found that there are air filter/ backing plates designed specifically for Twin Cams with Mikuni 42/45/48 carbs installed. However most guys report no issues with air filters that were originally designed for CV carbs as long as the stock gasket was used.
I still have not gotten to the fork springs yet. I am going to get the front end rebuilt at the same time I get my rear shocks which I figure will be around Christmas time.
Just a reminder...
The world ends on December 21st, so you might want to get everything done by then so we can see what it looks like

Is this on the Mayan calendar or some other calendar? I was completely unaware as the news is something ignore completely. I guess I better get my **** in gear then.
Any news on the backplate/Mikuni fitment issue yet?
I got a stock Harley gasket for between the intake and the carb. There will be a gasket with my new a/c whenever it arrives. Once everything arrives I will put on the stock harley gasket and pray that all works. That is all the news that I have right now. I am hoping for the a/c before I leave on Friday but am not counting on it as of now as until it is in my hands anything could happen.
I love it when bagger guys look at my bike and think that it is trying to be a bagger. No such thing. Tour Dyna. Handles like a dream, tons of power and will leave any bagger in the dust in the twisties. LOL.
Fork springs happen when they happen. One more day of work and I am out of here for a few. It will be a pleasure.
