on my 02,I used the stock reflector/headlight from the 04's when they came out, along with a bright PIAA bulb.

I spend 45 minutes each night after midnight riding highways through deer and elk country, and right by a refuge,so I go slow and use the brightest lights I can.

The new Roadie with the double headlights rules though.

OH BTW Hogpro, thanks for the PCH shots, love that area. Lived in the bay area for years and went there all the time to scuba dive. The coast from Canada to Mexico is awesome on a bike. Don't know which I liked more Big Sur or HWY 1 north from Jenner. Both are awesome scenic twistie rides especially on a bike that leans...

So I took my headlight out over the weekend and found a partially mounted connector. The goal was to replace the bulb with another I had hanging around. The other bulb is brighter and I adjusted the angle of the headlight. It is a bit better than it was. I also got a new connector and soldered that in to replace the melted one.

My rear cylinder is seeping out of the base on the left side as well. It seems as though the green o ring that goes on the oil return line on the case is mis seated or something. It is a fair amount of work to get in to replace it which I will do when I get a chance. I have never had this type of issue with a rebuild before but there is a first time for everything.

I also got some fork boots to put on from a buddy which I will do one of these weeks. The new a/c seems to fine so far as I took it off and checked it yesterday when I got home from my ride. My fingers are crossed. I took the breather bolts off and made sure I could thread them all the way in by hand until seated so that I could torque them properly which I did.

The bike still runs fine with the leak but this type of thing really gets into my head. I have talked to numerous people whom have had this issue and some have never bothered fixing it, but that is not who I am. I will not rest until it is done and not leaking there. All of my mods are being put off this month until later on in the year for my wedding anniversary. I was hoping to be done with everything by now but you guys know how it is, there is always something else that you want to do to the bike.

So it seems this weekend I will pull the rear head cylinder, etc and get this o ring replaced. I'll avhe an extra base o ring on hand as well just in case. While I am at it I will put in new clutch plates with the S/E clutch spring as well. Just gotta get all the gaskets and such and the clutch plates. I am going with stock style clutch plates as I see no added benefit to the kevlar, etc. I like everyone else am waiting on the FXDXT bags from Leatherpros and a set of rear shocks from MM when money is available.

It's smooth cruising for now. I am still riding the FXDXT with the little leak and it runs fine but I look forward to a leak free bike with a new clutch and spring that I can really smack if I feel like it.

I'll be adding some new Lyndall black carbon composite friction rings to my rotors when a chance arrives to put them on. They are really black which is great. I am not sure how they are made to be as black as they are but when I find out I will let you guys know. I gotta tell you, my bike will be begging for some all black wheels now.

In my absence at a Dr appt yesterday I found out these got put on another bike. LOL. I'll have to talk to Paul at Lyndall although I am not sure the completely black friction rings will work with the all black carrier as then it will all blend together. What do you guys think?

I talked to Paul yesterday, as soon as another set is ready he will ship it for me to put on my bike. It is going to look sick. the only concerne I have is that the rotors will now be all black without any contrast. What do you guys think about that? I have never personally seen an all black rotor. Here are the black friction rings on the shop VROD. I think they look sick.

Yeah, me too. Once they are on I'll get some pics up for everyone. We test rode the VROD and put some serious braking on the friction ring to make sure that it would stay black which it did. I am not sure how they make the friction ring black but it really does rock. I think it is anodized and then coated to protect it from the sun but I will find out today when I talk to Paul again. Another cool thing they are coming out with at Lyndall are some trick rotor bolts that are designed to be safety wired which i would never bother doing as my bike will never go to the track, but they are pretty trick. They have some super sweet Titanium bolts for the newer Dyna style rotors like in the pic as well that come with a special tool to install them that are Titanium as well. However, they are quite expensive. I'll see if i can dig up some pics of the Titanium bolts when I get a chance.

Great thread. Thanks for sticking with one thread and rolling out the updates. Read every page so far and will keep checking back. What did you pick up for your new a/c?
