Project FXDXT is underway
Now on to the leak at the bottom of the rear cylinder. I pulled the bags, box, seat, rocker box covers rockers and breathers and lifted the cylinder up (without taking it off the piston) to check the green o ring and it was indeed flattened in one spot where it was supposed to seal everything up. I replaced it and put everything back together and cleaned the surrounding area as well as I could. The results are there is no drip coming from the bottom of the primary this morning which is good, however when it is this cold out (50's) it is difficult to tell if everything is sealed up or not as the oil stays pretty thick even with my commute in to the shop. Time will tell.
I have located an FXRT tour pack that I am thinking of putting on the bike to replace the police radio box but money is just not there right now for this stuff. I need to find out if it will curve around my C&C back rest without it being altered (the backrest) and it will need paint and one of the brackets. I dunno, I think it would be nice to have an even larger tourpack but I dislike the look of the ebay cheapies.
No riding this weekend due to other work obligations unfortunately but it gave me time to work on the bike. I am expecting my black friction rings for my rotors this week and hoping that they looks killer.
I had a chance to take the shop Street Rod (VROD) out for a spin on Friday and and that thing is a blast. the seating postion and bar position are not for me but thing hauls serious butt. The brakes felt even stronger than on my bike although the bike is heavier and has the exact same components on it. This bike could one finger pinky stoppies if you wanted to. We put some Oberon adjustable levers http://www.lickscycles.com/catalog/p...oducts_id=2017 and my guess that it is the levers that gave it what felt like extra stopping power. I am considering a set of these on my ride. The bike also has a CFR 2 into 1 slip on and it has the most wicked sound I have ever heard. Super deep and definitely not quiet at all. Almost a bit too loud although I didn't have my ear plugs on when I rode the bike.
Back to the Dyna. It seems the main things that are left is to black out the fork lowers, put the springs and heavy oil in the front, put some wheels on it since I work at HogPro, and a few other things I'd like to do. However the rest of this stuff will most likely take some time. Regardless, this bike is the weapon of choice most of the time now. Have a great week all.
