I got my 500 break in miles done this weekend. Got home from my ride yesterday and dumped the oil and swapped filters. I was able to open the bike up on the way to work at 6am on the 405. Surprisingly there is still quite a bit of traffic at 6am but i was able to get to a "safe" location and whack the bike in various gears. This thing has some get up and go. I also took it for a test ride after the oil change last night on the 10 freeway. I think this will keep me happy for quite a while and would recommend this mod to anyone.

I got my heads, cylinders, and Pistons from Dunn Performance out of Colorado http://www.dunnperformanceheads.com/ and everything went together great although the cylinders needed a little extra help going over the piston rings. I think it was my cheap *** ring compressor. I replaced my Andrew's 26 cams with their 37 model. Already had the cam plate upgrade, new bearings etc.

This motor is tight and quiet. It moves quick. I am glad I didn't do any more than this as it is plenty for my needs. No need to roll at 100 on a daily commute but it sure is fun for a split second. The break in was torture trying to keep the bike down around 2500 rpms for 500 miles. It some serious will power which I have little of. Am I going to Dyno the bike now? I don;t think so. I did adjust the AFR a little to try and eliminate a bit of decel popping and all it did was move the popping from on RPM to another. I think I need to put the needle on the second clip in the carb next time I have it off. I didn't do compression releases and time will tell if my starter has what it takes to hold up of if I need to do that as well. My compression was supposed to 9:8:1 but I used the 95" kit stock head gaskets which are .045 and b umped the compression down to 9:7:1 or so. That will be just fine for my need for longevity.

Knowing myself I will most likely not be able to leave it alone anyway.

So am I happy? I think so. Next is to get the box mounted and painted but I think I'll take a few weeks off of working on the bike and just ride it. It sure is fun! I even had time to give it a bath in between my 450 miles this weekend. The rest of my 500 miles were accumulated commuting.

This thread sure has gotten slow, unlike the bike. Any feedback on the a/c covers that I did not get yet? Maybe I should start a poll to get everyone's opinion?

I got a black anodized wheel powder coated with a candy black which is really a sort of grayish color. The pc job is not so hot and I am not sure on the color. The black has turned to a sort of purplish like anodizing that has been in the sun. It looks similar to my front rotor carriers which sit in the sun for a good portion of the day most days. I really dig the gray where the raw aluminum was but need some feedback from you guys. Thoughts?

19x2.15. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

Hey...we are just kicking back and enjoying your project...you generally spell everything out so clearly there aren't a lot of questions...but more pics would be nice...

I voted "find another air cleaner cover"...none are worthy of your build...

As far as the a/c I really dig how narrow it is. The other a/c that was on there really got in the way of my knee when I put my feet on the highway pegs. I think that an RSD turbine would look killer in a black ops or contrast finish but I'm sticking with this one for now. Gotta replenish the bike fund after the motor build.

I'd PC the wheel gloss black. Good looking wheel by the way.
