Thinking about a windshield for my 2011 FXDWG. Looking for Feedback
I'm thinking about getting a quick release windshield for my 2011 FXDWG. All I'm really looking for is a little smoother ride on trips (2 hours or more) on the interstate. I go back and forth about the pro's and cons but would look at getting a compact one if I do. I don't know too much about what height, etc. I have heard some say you wanna look over it and some say you want to look through it. I definitely don't feel comfortable looking through the windshield. Any feedback or suggestions would be much appreciated!
I could not image riding 2 hours on the interstate without a windshield. I have the compact one and I look over it by a couple of inches. Once you put her on you want take her off. That wind blowing in your face is cool but I'll take sitting behind a windshield any day. It take about 5 seconds to put on and take off. Get one you want be sorry
I have the quick release sport one from Harley, I have used it maybe 2 times. Hate it.
You look thru it. even though its of a slighter size it is still tall. Creates Turbulence. Just pretty much sucks... Wanna buy it ?? LOL
There are several QD windshields....I have had the touring one, the standard QD and the Super Sport QD. I currently have the 19" Super Sport and it serves its purpose when needed and looks descent on the bike compared to the others. I would recommend it.
I only use it in colder weather or some evenings when the bugs are bad. The Super Sport doesn't have all the bracing and looks better on the bike...minimal while serving a purpose. You can get the Super Sport in 19" or 16". I have the 19" but if I were doing it again I would get the 16".

Do you think you don't like it because of the size? If it were possibly shorter do you think you would enjoy it? Why did you but it? Same reasons I am looking? Thanks for the feedback!

If it were cut down it would be better. I have had a shorter Memphis Shades on my previous bike that I was able to look over and it was much better.
They way the quick detach works it sets the shield a bit forward. I would prefer it set closer to the forks... Dynas shake of course, sitting still the windshield shakes and your looking thru it. Its just Irritating to me.
A far better solution to me is a 3/4 helmet with the shield. Clearer vision... To me If you can protect your eyes and ears from the windblast, Im comfy.
I dont ride over 70 MPH normally and then not to long at that speed. We do Alot of Country roads, up thru the forest around the lake, etc. We avoid Interstates if possible.
I have a HD Quick Release Compact for my Street Bob. About the only time I take it off is for pictures. It doesn't look very cool, but it serves a purpose. Most of my riding is on the highway. Plus I have a windshield bag on it and I always have stuff I need to put some place.
