Dyna's Frames
I know the touring bikes have their own frames. But how strong is the Dyna's frame? If you put on bigger saddlebags and a tour pak on the back and loaded both bikes up with the same amount of weight would there be a noticeable difference in the Dyna?? Ie frame flex or advanced wear? Yeah I know breaking would be different, single disk opposed to a dual setup.
You will not have any problems with the frame itself, I run a tourpak and saddle bags without any issues....once I found the correct balance point.
If you have the tourpak (weight) too far back, it can cause the front end to become lightweight and a little squirrelly.
The newer Dyna frames (06+) are slightly longer, so probably not as much of an issue.

Wife and I put many fully loaded miles on my T Sport before she bought her own FXDL. Never any problem; was nice to have dual discs up front I'm sure, but I'm also sure a single would have done OK.
people have been loading up motorcycles since the first one was made. hardtail frames and dynas were the only types way before the modern bagger. cant remember anyone having problems carrying stuff.
Thanks guys mine is a 09 and thru the years I have added a batwing fairing. And the next thing was going to be a tour pak, less things to come off. My buddy rides an 09 RK and the only things I see is the added front brake and the cruise control and maybe the tubeless tires to make touring more enjoyable. But that about 20k for a new bike, maybe if I win the lotto
As a new fatbob owner, I can tell you without a doubt that the dual front disc set up its got is retardedly good! From what I have seen, yhere are a few fatbobs here that have been turned into touring bikes. I'm a convert to the dyna cult... best chassis harley makes if you ask me!

no problem I have done lots of two up traveling and the dyna handles good
just keep the wieght low and as forward as possible
also adjust the rear shock load when you are carrying a heavier load so it sits up straight
