Default Question about super glide handle bars

I have a quick question. I want to replace my stock handle bars on my 13 super glide with either drag bars or ape hangers. I cant decide which to go with because i like the looks of both.

But my questions is, if i go with drag bars, would i need to replace any of the lines and cables?

If i go with ape hangers, how high can i go before needing to start replacing the lines and cables

These days H-D don't give you a lot of slack in the cables so 10" Apes may even be a push.

Drags would probably be the go but undo your bars and hold them up to get an idea of how much slack ya got....often its the brake line that gives you the most problems.

I've just fitted a set of late model, internally wired streetbob bars on a 12 FXDC. The elects have just enough length to work, the front brake hose needs to be removed from the existing retainer and remounted on the top tree where the streetbob throttle cables are mounted. This will stop the throttle cables from mixing up with the hose on full lock. The clutch cable needs to be undone at the lever and threaded up the side of the bike across the front of the frame and up to the lever. use the existing clamps on the frame at the base under the motor, and on the right down tube of the frame. Use a cable tie thru the hole where the down tubes join to secure it there. The total cost was $1.70 for a retaining P clamp for the brake hose at the top tree. But wait..LOL... the bonus is that the late model fxdc's have mini connectors on the wiring so no unpicking the harness is involved...Unplug the rubber grommets on each side of the fork head and pull out the cables, unplug...note, one side grommet is bigger than the other. .Get a nut...one end to a piece of string, tape the string to the harness ends, keeping in all as low a profile as you can, one block behind the other, and drop the nut down the bars till it comes out at the mount end slot. This way you can loosely fit the bars then start reattaching everything. It took a while to figure it out but it's a very simple process once you've done it and know the sequence....good luck.

I had Street Slammers installed on my '12 when I bought it new. All stock cables and wiring. This winter I added Bung King 1 1/2" extensions under the risers and could probably go another inch if I wanted. I think the bars have a 6 1/2" rise, so I am up to 8" now.

I was just looking at the street slammers. They look nice. I think I may go with apes. I've always wanted them on a bike. But I keep seeing pics of drag bars and they are growing on me too. I tested out a street bob and really liked the feel and reach of the bars. I've never tried out ape hangers. Might wait until I get a chance so I will know for sure if I would like them.

That looks pretty cool! Is the pull-back similar to the stock buck horns?
