OK, I did my research here and still have a problem. This is an 07 SB. I took off the pads from the two up seat and had no problem. I took off one of the logos from the tank and there is still the ghost image in the paint.
Cleaned it really good with adhesive remover and used the clay treatment although I couldn't tell it did any good at all. My experience is that the really aggressive adhesives will react on a molecular level to change the appearance/color.
I am not about to get on this thing with sand paper so I am looking for suggestions. I know a lot of you will say to leave it alone and I just may do that but I would like to get it smoothed over without a paint job if possible. It will just bug the **** out of me.
Looks like the previous owner may have used wax on it as the ghost logo is not quite as shiny as the surrounding paint but I used the adhesive remover liberally so it should have faded the lines around the logo some if it was wax.
I did the same thing to my bike. TONS of research.....
Unfortunately, with denim paint... Nothing you can do aside from have the whole tank repainted. I actually got new emblems and going to put them back on. *sigh*
Are you people out of your minds? I just busted out laughing at this ****. Yeah, I have already considered putting it back on but I kind of feel like I am riding a bike that came from IKEA.
Might have to live with it and go with the "ghost emblems" story. Should jack the resale pretty good.
Yep, sadly there ain't much you can do with Denim paint because the satin finish is in the clear and if you cut it you've ruined it. So other than adding a ghost flame theme to the bike you're likely stuck the way it is.
Love the Denim Blue BTW.

Look around for some badges that you like and put them on. There's a lot of different ones out there. They may not cover all of the mess but it will be less obvious. Unless you just don't want any stinkin badges at all.
