I think its great. Definitely setting itself apart from other dynas. And thank goodness they got rid of that hideous duckbill fender. As all bikes its going to take a bit to iron out what you do and dont like on your bike. My street bob looks nothing like a stock one. Now am I going to bash the moco for not making it like I had in mind? No. I think they went out on a limb here with the '14 fxdf and I personally believe that this style will grow on people.
My woman loves it, and I'll admit it looks better in person than the website. ( I recently sold my 2013 Fatbob, partially because I didn't think it looked nearly as good as it rode. )
The paint has a nice small flake to it, and I like that the old leather bib is gone. Adding black to the front end was also a good improvement. The seat looks nice, although it made me feel considerably higher than the last seat. The previous generation reminded me of how softtails feel, like you are sitting "in" them, but this is very much a perched feeling.
I like the wheels, and I like the tank. Again, the fender isn't as bad in person but it's still strange. Pipes aren't bad.
I very much dislike the shocks, air cleaner, and general use of chrome. If it were all blacked out, I imagine it would look quite different.
I'll say my FXDF was a great riding bike. One thought I had was with this bike, other than adding black, is there wouldn't be any aftermarket options. I can't image any different bars or pipes that would match the looks. I'd call it as European sporty influence? Actually, when speaking of a harley, that sounds terrible...
Although they still have the 883R, which I'd love to get back.
I admit, I like this bike way better than that fugly ucker they had on the website ! A person would need to change the fender and get rid of the bullet style tail lights. Ditch that ridiculous license plate deal....
After giving it a few days to digest, I must say that I really like this new FB. The shorter fender seems to really fit the style. I do think the LED's look a little funky with the rest of the lights still halogen. The blacked out components are a plus, and HD hit the nail on the head with the seat. The tank emblem has a cool old school vibe as well. Not a fan of the two-tone shocks. Overall It gets my thumbs up!
Is it just me, or does it look like they had a lot of leftover bobtail fenders so they got someone with a Sawsall to cut them down. Then they took some surplus car taillights, turned them sideways and stuffed them in the section that was cut.
Most the rest of the new styling looks OK to me except that rear fender. I would also prefer the battery box color to match, but I like vivid black anyway.
1. New wheels: nice
2. Black trees: why?
3. Tank stripe: NO
4. Batter box cover: sorta ok
5. Seat: better than previous, maybe.
6. Tail light: NO
7. Fender: not sure
8. Shocks: why?
9. black headlight rings: nah
10. Console: ok

that tail light & fender combo is fugly.....
Best quick review I've seen. Black trees I guess aren't THAT bad. Tank stripe is horrible. I love my '09 stock seat; the new one looks good but just doesn't look comfortable. Guess I'll have to sit on one to find out. Tail light needs a baseball bat to it. Fender looks great without the taillight. Shocks I have no idea why they'd ruin the silver/chrome look with a 2-tone shock. Who does that?!? Black headlight rings look like mascara (someone else stated this too).
Oh, and on the vivid black, the tail light/fender combo actually doesn't look that bad.
I guess I'm in the minority, but I like it. And I've never been a fan of them personally but this one looks pretty bad *** to me. Fender looks more in proportion than the original which was way too long.
From the side view I think the fender looks ok. From the rear or rear 3/4 view I think it looks pretty weird. Other than that, its not ugly, but not my style either. I think they would have been better served using the current Wide Glide fender, as that's been a popular mod and I think it looks better than either this or the previous bobtail fender. Ironically, I think the current Wide Glide would look better with the old Wide Glide/pre-'14 Fat Bob bobtail fender.
Does Harley still make a bike with the bobtail fender now? I don't think they've had a Softail with a bobtail for a few years, left the Wide Glide in '08, and now not on the Fat Bob either.
