Hi all. Came across a Dyna cheap {$5k} I'm considering. It's a '95. 9778 miles on it. Currently riding an '05 Sporty. Thinking a bigger bike might suck the wife into riding passenger again. Second owner. He's contacting the original to see if the cam bearings been done. Main concern was clutch pull. OMG! Might need clean and lubing with that kinda mileage. But, *way* heavier then my bike. I know there's some kits to lighten it. Any experience with them? I've got an old wrist fracture that's not gonna put up with that kinda pull! Any other issues to consider? Bike's pretty stock, not seeing anything changed. Original owner was a stockbroker.... Thanks, Bill
Make sure he puts in the Torrington bearing not the stock HD. The Torrington has quite a few more needles in it and it will last longer. I think it's about .50 cents more.
I love my '96 Low Rider. You can easily put 12" air shocks on the back and adjust the fork tubes to settle it down a little, and I personally find the buckhorn bars terribly uncomfortable, but that's a decision for you to make. Oil up those bags, redye if needed, and enjoy that Evo. Carb rebuild is easy and cheap if it needs it, exhaust replacement or slip ons are easy as well.

Sounds like a good deal with the low miles. Weak points on these engines are cam bearings and lifters. If you're handy you can replace both in half a day. Quicker if you use adjustable pushrods. While you're in there you might as well replace the cam and make it a lot more responsive and fun to ride. I always liked the Andrws EV-27.
There are several ways to reduce clutch pull if necessary.
I just jumped from a Sporty to a 98 Convertible. Mine was bone stock, at about the same mileage. I ripped off the buckhorns right away, and put on some Screamin Eagle slip-ons. I don't really notice any clutch pull difference from my Sportster, they are both 98. Yeah, the Dyna is heavier, little longer, and sits a little higher. I think that will just fade away over time, getting used to the bike. Do it, I think you will be happy.
