I'm on the McMaster-Carr website right now looking at solid rod ends in male right handed thread and female left handed thread. This would work as long as I put a jam nut to backdown against the female side. Might have to do a heim on one side to allow for the angle of the fairing bracket. This is gonna be a pricey solution though.

I agree with your thinking here. One solid end, and one heim, turnbuckle, and one jam nut.

It would be nice if you could find a jam nut for both sides of the turnbuckle. Is there such a thing as a standard thread AND reverse threaded nuts? I think it would look nicer.

If we used the female left handed thread on one half, we wouldn't need the turnbuckle, I don't think.

Going with the female r/h thread would work with a male left handed thread heim rod end. But... I only see the female in steel and its $21.79

You are correct, I have done that before on custom cars. I just didnt like the way it looked.

Here is what I think is ideal.

One of these with only ONE heim joint installed. Weled and coped to one of these bungs. (this would be for my top mount headlight Rifle setup, not your 49mm fork design) The actual sizes, of both the turnbuckle, bungs, and heim are not correct in my example, merely a general idea.

The bung would be mounted where my original headlight eyebrow was mounted. Then cope and weld the brake stay to it. I would use the original Rifle sliding mount already adjusted to my particular bike, as a template for dimensions, and angles.

I also think that if you are confident in your mount length and angles, that 2 of those counter bored bungs mounted on a properly bent length of tubing would make a really nice mount. It just takes out the adjustability.

Just think "rigid chopper rear fender struts"

Ended up grabbing some 3/8"x7.5" zinc plated eye turnbuckles from a hardware store for $1.99 each. Had to reposition the fork mount clamps but it will work for now. They are a step up from the Rifle mounts.
