thunderheader;worth it?
Regarding quality, I take back what I said originally regarding Bassani and higher quality. I absolutely can't speak for the Thunderheader yet because it has only been a few days, but the Bassani looks like **** after only 6 months and a piddly ~4k miles. Nothing that actually harms the pipe from a functional standpoint, but there are rust spots in various places, problems with the finish where the muffler joins the head pipes, etc. Some of the issues are from scratches that were caused when putting the heat shields on, but others are totally due to normal riding and exposure. I had no real issues with mounts or anything, but the finish on the pipe isn't very good imo.
I'm sure I'll have more to add after a few months and a few thousand miles with the Thunderheader, but for now I'm really happy with the purchase and I, so far, think it was worth every penny.
I love the look and sound. I don't regret buying one, in fact I'm a pretty satisfied customer, but if I had the chance to do it again I might do it different. Really like the D&D bobcat, RSD slant and the VH competition series. I think build quality would likely be better in all those pipes.
Yes, it is a challenging install but a novice like me did it in about 8 beer. And it's worth noting that it runs HOT and the heat shields are all but useless. I wouldn't spring for them again. I run them on the head pipes, but only because I paid for them and scratched the heck out of the pipes trying to install them.
Hope that helps. As I've said before, owning a TH is like having a second ***** with the power to make people's ears explode.
