Yes, should be great running.

I using Woods TW777, I am hoping for 115+ hp 125+ for torque. Plus the benifit of the trued and ballanced crank, should run so smooth, for a Harley. LOL

alansummrs, it's not that we are interested or not. Many of us just read. We know enough to understand without asking a question.
This thread will help many that are considering doing this.
Each person looks at things their own way. Like I prefer SS cams but others prefer other makes.
Question: Are you using the stock rods or go to H series light weight rods

I went through this same thing last winter. Changed cam choices many times. Was going to 107 instead ended going 113. Did the welded crank, and lefty bearing started out going with stage 3 heads ended up going stage 5. Went from a HD 5 speed to a baker OD6 for performance bikes.
I am not a lone, every one (pretty much) changes things up when doing a complete build.
Wise choice on the crank work.

I kinda put my comment about whether there were a lot of "learning" type readers for two reasons: 1) the obvious reason, whether there were very many or not 2) to encourage those readers to comment/ask questions - I know if I was reading this about a year ago, I would have been very interested but somewhat intimidated about asking a question, so I wanted those readers to feel more comfortable.

I have yet to read anybody recommend those H-beam rods for a 107" build. I know they must be stronger but no one seems to say they are necessary for my type of build - maybe better for a 117" or so? They are expensive, and the crank work was not planned already so I am already in the house of pain so the H-beams are put over in the too much $$ corner with the 117" decision.

Thanks for jumping in, I am always interested in your posts

The short comming of the tapered HD rod is if it has a bushing in it. It has a chance to spin eventually. HD stopped using them in the 2010+ models. They are non serviceable. This is why I went with H beams. FWIW.

Learning in progress here: I have a 2012 and it looked like my rods had the copper bushings?

According to HD's dealer updates for 2010 they shouldn't but who knows.

I need to double check but I believe my Indy said that John recommended the "Replace wristpin bushings & pinbore to size" for $55. I had told my Indy that if John highly recommends anything then I would do it, so maybe Darkhorse has a good remedy?

Probably so. My rods were junk so didn't entertain a bushing change.

i realize this is random and out of left field but i am so jealous of yall's builds. i want to do some engine upgrades too. i managed to do cams a few years ago, but the wow of that has wore off
it is funny because when i here about 107" builds it seems like a monumental leap from my 88", I remember when i was planning my cam upgrade i was considering going to 95" and even considered some 98" kits and that seemed like a big motor to me just a few years ago

Some 95 or 98's built well can blow some 106 or 107 motors away. The build all comes down how well the heads were worked the cam and exhaust can flow everything nicely.
