Really looking forward to twisting on it

I read a lot of threads on porting and a lot of the porters think that being a little rough there is actually a good thing - I have an aerospace degree but never really used it too much but I know on airplanes they will put strips and other little protrubences that disturb the air to keep it flowing tight to the wing and not separate and create a ton more drag. To the finger, it does not feel very rough, but I have only seen just a couple of heads that have been worked on.

Are you referring to the seat pressure? Good question if so, I meant to say something: AV&V springs, max recommended cam lift .600", 165 lb seat pressure. Normally AMS and I suspect a lot of other shops like to use bigger/stronger springs that cover more cams but after talking to TR at Tman, he told me to try to get something with around 155-160 lbs of seat pressure. Eric at AMS was great about ordering just what I wanted otherwise I would have been using springs with 178 lbs of seat pressure - creates ineffiency.

I believe 2012 was first year for Auto Compression Releases? Had to buy a special tool to deal with those.

Same reasoning for the dimples on golf *****, keeps the air moving increasing flight.
Enjoying the read, thanks!

"roughness" is definitely a good thing in the ports. there is no not about that.

I guess I should have typed a few more words into my previous post.

said - rough looking job, but should do the trick.

should have said - to my eye the workmanship is a rough looking job, but should do the trick..

velocity is important as well.

easy to over do the throttle body - losing velocity.

are you using compression release?? 10.5 is borderline to must have.

Ports looks so nice you'd think they were worked on by a German Dentist!

A real one, not Laurence Olivier in Marathon Man.

Well I guess I will find out soon enough about my headwork. I am a big believer in CNC machining and do not see an advantage to a sharp ridge in the intake/exhaust ports over a more rounded ridge; you do not see sharp ridges like that used on subsonic airplanes on airfoils, elevators, etc. but as said before I am very new to the world of headwork.
