Are you all cranked up Allan? Should start moving along now.

I have been at a bit of a stand still my self. I posted about it in the Engine and Maniacal forum.

I will go find that update, see what you are up to

I was soooo happy to hear from my Indy today, I have a few days off right now and wanted to get back to work!

Looks like my Indy checked out the crank:

I know a lot of people might want to know what the Darkhorse cost was for my build was so I will list the services and parts:

SCB Service H-D Crankshaft/Blueprint with balance ($495)
Weld crankpin ($29.95)
Darkhorse Pro-plugs(set) ($14.95)
Darkhorse rod bearing sets ($69.95)
Shipping both ways ~ $39 x2 = $78

This can be found on the Darkhorse Retail Price List(except the shipping cost):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/p58rpru48w...rkhorse%24.pdf

Of course if you have DH split/reassemble the cases there will be more costs. I paid my Indy $500 to split case, pack and ship crank to DH, install Timken sleeve/bearings, and reassemble case.

I bet you're really glad you decided to spend on the crank now. Don't have to worry about breaking it, or your oil pump, anymore.

I'll be picking your brain in the future on all of this. My research was limited to cams. I'm a dummy when it comes to selecting TB, headwork, compression ratio, etc.

Does that plane of yours ever land in DC?

Matt

Yeah pretty happy and it will be nice to know that I can romp on it without destruction worries and the Timken should be a big plus too, my Indy showed me the stock end play when I brought it over and said that that would be set to .002" when I get it back.

I get it to DC occasionally, not as much as say New York and Boston. If I find a longer layover there I will give ya a heads up

One thing I will say about those subjects you mentioned is CC -Corrected Compression is the the ratio to get to know

I can't read any more...

Never claimed to be Gods gift to wrenching, I am a work in progress. I could have bought a HD oil wrench but it would have been a one time use, K&N filters for me going forward, no oil wrench required. Yeah, if you are already a perfect mechanic and don't care to share, then I would skip this thread.
