I have a book on the subject. .spells it all out pretty well. .How to Build a Harley Torque Monster. Haven't gotten down to the application of it though. Some day.
Hey Alan, haven't talked to you for a while, running yet? LOL
Text me sometime ok?
Not as fast as you, but making progress, case is back where it belongs:
Had a hard time getting the case back on the dowels and front motor mount until I realized the jack holding the transmission up had sagged a little(guess that is why the HD SM has you strapping the transmission too). A couple of pumps on the jack and case goes in. A little tricky torquing the case to transmission bolts but the 1/2" Crowfoot wrench took care of that.
Impressive journey and experience Al. And to think that I'm having trouble making up my mind if I want to install the TW555 cam that I got or buy an Andrews 26. Then I start thinking about a little head work to help with the flow velocity and mine is only an 88". Seems like small potatoes compared to your project. Thanks for sharing, this is invaluable information. Who knows maybe someday I'll be playing with the big boys too?
good job Alan better off to take your time and get it right the first time. than have to take apart because you rushed. that's the way it was when the GM dealer I worked for switched to flat rate a lot of problems started to unfold!

Hope the thread gives you confidence, if you do the homework it is all manageable and really fun/rewarding.
IMHO the Andrews 26 is nice as a simple bolt in but if your thinking about headwork or even a Big Bore, then the TW555 or the Andrews 54. Come on in the water's fine!

I just told myself today to take it slow, enjoy, don't rush - this after cutting my finger(again) cleaning off the label glue on a new scraper The rest of the day went great just had fun. It really is kinda a slow go anyway especially compared to the teardown, have to clean bolts, clean thread holes, and sequence torquing etc....
