Ok clutch/transmission pros(matt, soft 02, anybody else), I have a feeling that something on my clutch has slipped out. I am not able to adjust my clutch normally, too much slop in the lever and having to "stretch out" the clutch cable adjuster too far. This may be the result of the "***** not seated in the ramps"?

Think I will move on to something else, and listen to y'all and read some more before coming back to adjusting the clutch.

I've never quite understood how the ***** get out of the ramps. .when I had the cover off the transmission it seemed like they can't come out of position? I was even actuating the lever with the cover off to see how it worked.

Alan,

Here's some thoughts. .are you 'over' slacking the clutch cable during adjustment? Meaning. .if you run the adjuster all the way out on the cable, it could potentially move the ramp mechanism in the tranny out of place? I usually only undo the cable until the lever is floppy and stop there since it can't mess up the clutch adjustment at that point.

When you go back out there. .start over:

1) cable slacked, lever floppy
2) jam nut loose, adjuster backed out
3) run adjuster in until touching, back 1/2 turn, lock adjuster with nut
4) actuate your floppy lever (not that one. . .) 3-4x
5) adjust cable slack to 1/8-1/16" at lever (size of a dime)

If the above fails...can troubleshoot more.

Matt, I think I just needed a slap, brain is slow to warm up this morning. I was setting the jamnut to "lightly seated" instead of the adjuster screw. Better take my time today.....

Good thing you walked away before pulling your tranny cover to check the ramps

One thing I have learned about wrenching is if something is not working right or does not feel right, just back off and do something else for awhile - it is amazing what a little time and separation will do for your problems.

Since I had been away 4 days, thought I would do some smaller stuff before the bigger things. Just been reconnecting crank position sensor, Voltage Regulator, and Oil Pressure sending unit. About to go to the cylinders though, pretty excited about that.

Put the Kramm-Lox piston clip in on the drive side of piston so I can install the cam side clip when the piston and cylinder is on the bike. As you can see by the surface scratches, the Kramm-Lox clips are no piece of cake either, let's just say I was glad I had glasses on! Don't trust the YouTube videos, they make it look way too easy and I bet they use a tired worn out clip.
