I'm half tempted to change it anyhow---it's only $100--- thats a small price to pay for a piece of mind. I better get this thing to stop the passenger peg vibration, mamma wants to ride!!! Jim
Save your money man. I paid $116 and all it did was nothing. If anything it will be firmer than what you have on there. It might give you a little more stability but vibes will not decrease. Did you flip your clevis pin around?
Just an update. Switched mount last night. Took about an hour total & flipped the kickstand clevis pin at the same time. Took the bike on about a 40 mile ride with the wife, big difference, got late & hadn't eaten or would have went farther. Still vibes from take off to about 2600, but not bad --- good vibes! From 2600 up very smooth---even the wife said she could ride all day now. Very stable no rear end wash-out feeling --- i used to have a buddy follow me to check my rear tire--always thought something was "loose" in the rear end---not no more! Oh btw I have roughly a 1/4 to 3/8 clearance from the bottom crossmember to the case bolt now!!! I'm finally happy with this bike. I'll try for some pics today. And yes I have a tach on my bike. Jim
Let me just say one more thing.....Phil at Vibra-Technics is a stand-up guy. When he heard I had a problem with my first mount he had one Fed Ex'd within an hour!!!! You can't beat that for customer service! Thanks Phil!!!! Jim
So how many have had problems with the rear mount after installing the Vibra-Techniques front?
I haven't had any. The mount has been great, handling and stability much improved. Loud clunks over bumps and the weird shimmy going around corners is gone. I replaced my rear mount after installing the front, but I detected no difference before and after swapping the rear and it's been fine since.
I put this mount on my 06 and liked it. Especialy in the higher rpms. Well, i traded that bike for a 2014 low rider, which i love. I took alot of stuff off my 06 before i traded it in and one thing was this mount. So i have one sitting on the shelve. I am happy with how the new bike feels, but i am thinking of installing it on the lowrider. Seems like an easy decision accept, i am leaving for sturgis on Fri. It will be about 3000 mile round trip.
Basically i would be changing the mount then hittin the road for sturgis so i dont really have any time to mess around or adjust or change it back out if for some reason i dont like it .
What do you guys think? Change it before the trip or just blow it off to after the trip?
I'd not risk it. The stuff that tends to go wrong is whatever you touch. You really don't want to be halfway to Sturgis and have, say, the regulator fall off.
The stock mount will be good for 5K-10K miles before it will tend to sag and need replacing. So it might not feel quite as nice as with the VT mount but it will be good enough.
