monster715 curious if your rear mount is bad.
Very few actually do not like the VT mount.
With all that movement I'm thinking there is more going on.
I didn't think my rear mount was bad till I removed and inspected it.
I have forwards so don't have the mids to hit.
I have the same issue monster. My pipe heat shield hits my mid peg. I thought it was my rear mount. I relaxed it just to see. It wasn't. It does seem that the motor move up and down more with this.
I don't think the rear is the issue, I installed a sputhe rear stabilizer when I installed the vt front mount, so I inspected the rear mount pretty well and it looked fine. I've had this issue since day one, I've seen the great reviews from everyone else and I tried my best to make it work but for me it didn't. I don't know maybe I got a screwed up mount but since I went back to the stock mount and sputhe the bike feels much more solid. Maybe I should ask vt if they want me to send my mount to them so they can look at it
Misfit, sorry to hear your have problems too but at least I'm not the only one. I don't know how old your mount is but the early ones had a taller lower block. When I emailed vt that my pipe was hitting the mid peg they sent me a shorter block to help out. I believe the later mounts all had that shorter lower block tho

Yup. Only problem is installing the Big Bear because it's so huge. It;s bigger than the space you have to put it in so I took it apart and put it back in place.
I believe they intend you to have the engine out.
I love the rigid feel of the rear now. At first I felt more low end vibration but that has disappeared. now it's feels great and outstanding high speed control.
It takes getting used too because it improved soo much at high speeds.
It doesn't sway anymore , quick solid traction.
I took my bike out today after installing the mount Monday. WOW! It has totally transformed the bike. No more wallowing and the steering is quick and precise. I am sold. As a bonus I can see in my mirrors on the highway now as well. I hope it stays this good over time.

Ok so wait a minute, I'm lost on this, what mount are you talking about? Can you post info and picts of it?
I got my mount installed today. It took longer to get set up for the job than the job of installing the mount took. The install took 30 minutes at the most.
