Well after finally catching up on all the pages I missed I feel as though I can finally post. Aside from it being an amazing bike the 2nd biggest draw to the Low Rider was the throwback styling they took from the older low rider. The Silver and black paint scheme is nearly identical to that of my dads 79 Low Rider. There were only a few differences that I later mimicked to match. Bought my 14 Low Rider(Silver and Black) new on Oct. 1st of last year. Loved the bike(still do). First new bike I have ever owned, was riding an 09 Nightster I bought off my brother for a couple years before the Dyna. Unfortunately a very short 26 days later on Oct. 27 I had a fateful encounter with a deer doing 60 mph. The bike was awful but its came a long way and far from being finished. The bars on her now were temporary until I decided fully where i want to go with her. Still need to finish the stage 1 mods and plans to change the bars and maybe add a back rest for the passenger. Picture quality isn't the best. I love my bike so far though.

wow, that is always a scary thought of hitting a deer, glad you are here to be able to tell about it.

Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear that the first new bike you ever owned was messed up by a stupid deer. You are the first LR owner in this thread to have that unfortunate encounter. Glad that you were okay and that you were able to put the bike back together.
Be sure to stop by often and partake in this thread.
That's why I avoid riding at night around here. Too many deer and its all back roads from my house to nearest civilization.
I stopped riding at night a long time ago. Lots of deer in my area. I have seen about 12 deer/motorcycle fatalities in my area in the last 9-10 years. All were deer collisions at night.

It all really worked out in the end. Ended up getting it painted to match my dads old 79 alot sooner than i ever anticipated. Hows the quarter fair with wind? It help at all or just looks mainly?

Happened at 3 in the afternoon so still daylight out but where I live its all back roads for an hour in about any direction. Wrong place wrong time I guess.

Its still on the bike. I was able to use the lowers and most of the internals when rebuilding the forks. Just needed to replace the upper tubes springs and spacers.

It can happen at any time. I hit one last year at ~60 mph too. Did that at 3 in the afternoon.
I rode over to the dealer day before yesterday to have some rotors replaced under warranty. Had 2 does jump out in front of me. Fortunately, it was in a field with very little tree lining so I saw them well ahead of time. I also saw their boyfriends. I rode down the road away as they ran beside it. I let them lead and sure enough they jumped across to go find their girlfriends. That was at ~10 am.
I hope the LR guy did better than me. I spent the better part of a week in a trauma unit. Still gimpin around too.
