I'm sure a lot of folks will disagree, but, I don't believe in continuous use of a battery tender or any other charging device. I believe they ultimately shorten the life of the battery. I've had good luck charging them for a day or so every month or so during winter months. Also, I avoid bringing them inside during the winter; all chemical reactions proceed more quickly when warm, including battery degradation.
I sold one of my bikes in October and the battery was almost 7 years old and still going strong.
I think you may be right about the overcharging. I may well have overcharged.
Still researching motorcycle batteries. My next one is going to be the best.
This is one of those things that is so wildly inconsistent. I'm a big believer in battery "tenderizing." The tender doesn't constantly charge as you probably know. It just monitors and tops off when needed. I got 10 years from my OEM battery in my Sporty, which was always tendered. Yet other people get 2 years and it's done. You don't tender all the time, you get 7 years. I can't figure it out.
I would agree. The more I research this issue the more it appears it is just a crap shoot when it comes to whether you get a good battery that will last or one that lasts 2 years. I bought a 2002 Camaro Z28 new in 2002. The original factory battery lasted a full 7 years of midwestern winters without being hooked up to a battery tender.
All depends on how often you ride yer bike, and how much each ride. The more you ride, with longer rides, the longer your battery may last.
Park it for a couple years, and your battery will be flat, guaranteed.

Congratulations. I traded in my Sportster (together with my Indian Scout 60) for a 2014 Low Rider just over a year ago and, while sorry to have to let the Sportster go, I have no regrets. The Low Rider is a fabulous bike.
Have you encountered any other Low Rider owners in the UK?
Have you encountered any other Low Rider owners in the UK?
There are undoubtedly others, but I haven't met any of them yet. In fact, when I purchased my Scout 60, it was a choice between that and a Low Rider. From the service record, I'm fairly sure that the Low Rider I subsequently traded the Scout 60 in for is the same one I had been considering buying - which has been through one other owner in the meantime. It seems there's a fairly small pool of these bikes in UK!
I've just checked the records and, although I've not encountered them yet, in the UK there are 244 other (2014 to 2017) Dyna Low Riders that are registered for use on the road. Hopefully, I'll meet some of the others in 2019!

244 very happy riders. As for meeting other HD riders or LR owners, any HD groups in your area?

I've chatted with other HD riders at the dealer I use, but it's about 90 minutes ride away, which is a long way to go to begin a ride with others. Thankfully, I have local friends with a variety of makes of bikes who I meet up and ride with.
And I've just remembered that I did once meet one other Low Rider owner at the dealership, but he's not reappeared yet. Perhaps in 2019.
