I did 13.5" race tech rear shocks and wide glide fork tubes up front with race tech springs and gold valve emulators. huge improvement in ride quality and lean angle.
Hello and thank you very much for this very interesting answer.
I imagine we are very few to do such a transformation.
I appreciate your answer.
Please: If have well understood: the wide glide fork tubes are longer than our genuine FXDL ones? How long please? Do you know exactly?
I am sur the race tech springs are better to improve the work of the fork in "sport" riding conditions.
What are : "gold valve emulators"?
Thank you again.
Regards,
Phil.
I intend to get in touch with harley corporate. The dealer, who I've been involved with through out the years just haven't addressed the situation in a serious way. They pretty much dismissed it as normal. But I don't think it is at all "normal". Oh well. I just hope I get satisfaction. But I doubt it.
FWIW my Low Rider got crappy gas mileage as well. I even had a tuner, air cleaner and pipes with no cat... while better than stock not very good. I traded it in and got the street glide... gets better mileage both stock and with stage 1 upgrades

I should note... the mileage is not the reason i got rid of it... Just wanted a bagger, but wanted to chime in.

just curious, what kind of mileage were you getting?
I get around 40-42 on average, stock with fl-vied. just removed the cat converter saturday, am going to see what it does like this. must have removed some restriction as is a bit louder without it, and muffler seems a bit cooler. one thing I do miss on the harley vs the bmw R1100RT is the 7 gal fuel capacity.

49mm FXDWG fork tubes are 1 7/8" longer than the FXDL tubes i believe.
I have 3/4" not including the nut sticking out the top tree after leveling the frame rails with my taller rear shocks.
Check out race-techs website they have a video that explains the emulators function.
