Getting ready to drop in a pair of Intiminators and reinstall forks. Can anyone tell me whether the fork oil measurement is taken with the forks off the bike in a vertical position, or mounted in the trees in the raked position. Also any ideas on the distance the top of the forks should protrude above the top tree.

Should be done off the bike in a vertical position with the forks compressed. Make sure to pump the slider several times to pump the air out. I took my measurement with the ricors in the tubes
One last question...with the intiminators installed, do I need to shorten the spring collar (the metal tube surrounding the spring)? Will the factory length make it a pain to secure the fork caps?
This is the way I did it and I am not saying it's correct or the best way
I took the measurement with the intiminators in and what the manual said 110mm
I did not shorten the spacer and yes it was a pain to get the caps on but to be honest I don't notice any difference between the stock and now except for the obvious difference of the intiminators

The Intiminators are 1/2" in height, you should shorten the stock spacer by that amount or you may end up with to much pre-load..........
