Default cruise control problem 2007 Ultra

Last year I was experiencing all around electrical problems. 1st dealer replaced everything electrical and couldn't fix the problem. Ended up being a wire periodically shorting out.
Anyways, around the same time (coincidence?), my cruise control "set" switch would short out my rear lights (brake /signals), blowing the 15am fuse, and of course the cruise would not work.
I got my bike back at the end of the year and didn't try the cruise because they said they just fixed the wire shorting problem at the time.
NOW, when I push the "set" for cruise, nothing happens, however the fuse does not blow and lights stay on.

Anyone ever experience this. Not looking for answers that just say "its your switch/bad module/wiring", unless you have experienced this issue. I am aware it is one of the 3, lol!

Thanks,
Brad

Does the dash light change color when SET is selected?

I got it blocked in right now. Will I be able to check this with it in neutral? I do remember seeing the "light" come on. If it does when clicking set, then yes. Or does the light come on when the dash cruise power is selected? I cant remember

EDIT: with ignition turned to acc, it lights up orange when I flip the dash switch. But stays orange when i push the "set" on handlebars. But like I said, I'm blocked in right now and front fairing is off working on LED lights and stereo.

No, only when the bike is in motion and able to set cruise.........
When ON the orange light will be on, when engaged the green light will be on, you cant check the CRUISE function while stationary, the GREEN light will not alight.

"NOW, when I push the "set" for cruise, nothing happens, however the fuse does not blow and lights stay on."

Did you try this while the bike was blocked in?

You CAN check the switches though..........
1. Hold cruise switch in the "set" position.

2. Turn the cruise "on"
3. Turn the main power switch on, the cruise light should initially come on then turn green, release the cruise switch the light will turn amber.
4. Push the cruise switch to "resume" the light should turn green, release the switch, the light should turn amber.
5. Roll the throttle "off", make sure you roll it off to activate the cutoff switch for the cruise, the light should turn green, release the throttle the light should turn amber.
6. Apply the front brake, the light should turn green, release it, the light should turn amber.
7. Apply the back brake, the light should turn green, hold the brake until the light turns amber, release the brake now, you should hear the cruise motor adjusting itself (taking ujp the slack).

This is how to check the switches without the bike being in motion? And with the ignition turned on? or does the engine have to be running? Sorry, I usually have a local guy who does this for me, but too cold to ride it to him!

THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

Engine does not have to run to check these switches.
Can be done while blocked in.

Reading over this whole thing, I think we're chasing our tail here.

Your guy said he fixed it last year but you haven't checked it yet and it's blocked in.

I would suggest just to wait till you can get it out to ride and see if they fixed it.
No sense in going over what might NOT be happening..........

I did ride it the other day when it reached 50 degrees, and the cruise did not work, but it didn't blow the fuse. I just have it blocked in now and have the fairing off working on stereo wiring. I just don't remember if it turned green and didn't work. Don't know if it matters that one of the things they replaced was my ECM/FP3 to a ThunderMax. But don't see how that should matter.

Ok, if it didn't work check the switches to see if they are all good.
Also check that the fairing switch for cruise works,
OFF, orange light on gauge off,
ON, orange light on gauge ON

I went to youtube and watched a video since it didn't work. It was on a later model. Mine is a 2007. Are the diagnostics the same as a later model?
