I am working on a project for my wife's bike and installing Kuryakyn tail light and turns. I first bought a Show Chrome setup and then decided to go with the Kuryakyn. I used the load equalizer that I bought for the Show Chrome setup. All the lights work fine but when I let the bike run for a few minutes the equalizer starts to smoke. (The silicone/epoxy that seals the unit) Do I have something hooked wrong or are the load equalizers brand specific?
The directions said to hook one red wire to the brake power and the other red wire to the tail light power and the black wire to the ground. if there was no ground just hook to frame. (my light has a ground wire) I believe that set up would be parallel right?
You had to cut the red wire to the brake light? My equaliser only had 2 wires, black to ground other side to the signal light wire so they blink. (older bike). What year bike r u connecting to?

My tail/brake light assembly has three wires One black=ground and Two red one for tail light side and one for the break side. it says the red wires are not side specific.

}It is a 04 Kaw. that I am using for a bobber project for my wife
The brake light stays on to long putting continuous power to the load equaliser while applied, where the blinker is intermittent. Anyway you don't need the equalizer on the brake light. The purpose of the equalizer is to add load to the signal light circuitry (the led's don't pull enough amps to activate the relay) so the blinker relay works.

Thank you for your reply I unhooked the equalizer to the brake/tail light and everything is fine.
