Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
So im in a bit of a situation. I have 3 choppers projects 2 of which I would like to finish and sell the third keep for my self. I have a tc88 a 80" with delkro cases and a roached 80" evo needs a new crank and some other top end stuff that I already have.
One of the bikes im building to sell is an early cfl frame with a baker 6 spd and a 3" bdl it came with the tc88 but I didnt want to modify the fixed trans plate to accept the twinky's offset. And I got to thinkin that it just wouldnt feel right putting less than 100"s of motor in that frame. So what I want to do is........
Throw the twin cam in the 2nd forsale bike that can offset the trans easily. Gut the delkron use the stock crank top end etc to make the roached evo whole again and put a nice s&s kit in the delkron cases......
So what im posting this for is opinions on.
How reliable is a big evo gonna be(safe to bore delkron cases)
How big should I go? (Maybe a "square" motor)
Best kit to buy?
Best cams, heads etc to pair with my kit?
my main concern is boring the delkron cases safely I couldnt find anything on forums about it labor wise I can do all the work my self aside from boring cases
We've bored Delkron, S&S, STD, and House of Horsepower(1st to offer 356 castings)for almost 3 decades now.
Currently building a 106" Shovel using Delkron cases for a client near Montreal.
Happy to lend a hand.

Building or rebuilding a copper to sell spend as little as you can. make it look good and sell to first person with the cash in hand. of be stuck holding a lemon.
You won't be able to make a 100 ci "square motor" on the Delkron cases.. IIRC the largest bore you can do is about 3 13/16 before running into cylinder studs and case thickness issues. SnS raised the case deck height 1/2 inch and moved the cylinder studs out one there 100/107/113 and larger evo motors. IIRC the 111ci motor is 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.
