I asked this same question over on HTT too but I know there are some different opinions from board to board. so here it is.A friend of mine is now wanting to change up his build. he currently is running a mouse build as some will say and now wants to go bigger. He has a 02 Road Glide with a 26 cam, He purchased a set of heads that flow 275/216 @ 28 they are cc'd to 81 with 650 lift springs, He also got a set of 8cc pistons now he is looking for a cam that will give him good bottom end and run out the top. I suggested the S&S 585 and The Andrews 55, I'm just curious what others have to say.

Either of those cams would work but I think I would be using a .040" head gasket to bring the CCP back down to get it below 200psi, but that's just me; I like the 585 for this application. 81cc heads would mean that somewhere around .050"-.060" has been shaved off the heads. Combine that with an 8cc dome and piston to valve clearance should be checked.JMHO

Just found out that his heads also have a 1.8 intake opening. What Carb would be better for this build? HSR 42 or 45. He has a HSR 42. He is still deciding on the cam. It is going to be either a S&S 585 or TW8. thanks
