What model year? How many miles on the lifters? If a post '10 model, the OEM lifters are the "C" lifter made in Mexico. Do yourself a favor and replace them. If a pre '01 model, the OEM lifter is the "B" lifter and if less than 35K-40K miles, run them.

Did you mean pre '10 for the B lifter or is pre '01 correct

I mean what I tyed; pre '01 would be the "A" lifter. If the OP is working on a '12 model, "C" lifters and he should replace them with a better aftermarket lifter like CompCams VThunder 850-1 or S&S Standards depending on how much he wants to spend.

OK I respect the knowledge you have and share here. I just copied the last sentence of the message I was asking about. I understand now that '01-'09 are B lifters. I am new to working on Harley engines and so far I just mess with the easier parts. It seemed easy to mistype '01 instead of '10.
I am sorry I did not make it clear in my previous post. I should have asked if it was a typo in the last sentence. I do thank you for clearing it up for me.
Take care.

Sorry for the confusion. I know my reply came off harsh but it was not intended. Actually, I erred in my first reply. The pre '01 lifter was the -99 lifter made by Johnson, after early cam bearing failures, Delphi produced the lifters which were -99A. I don't recall exactly which year but IIRC, in '02, still a Delphi with some changes the -99B lifter was introduced. I believe it ran into the '10 model year before the "C" lifter, made in Mexico was introduced. There have been quality issues with the "C" lifters and I don't know if they have beed resolved. Hope that does clear things up. The "B" lifter was the best; hard to find now though.
