Sorry meant to say Wide Glides...only found one Street Bob. I'm 6'1 and 210 so a Wide Glide is more my thing regardless.

I would save the coin, ride as is, and upgrade when you are ready. A cam change in and of itself isn't going to blow you away with power and remember,
When trading in, up, or selling, most don't care what upgrades you did to the motor and many actually don't like the fact that you modified the motor so you probably won't get any of that investment back when you sell.
If you are keeping the bike-different story.
Upgrade the hell out of it....

Exactly what I'm thinking. The old lady doesn't wanna ride fender forever, she's already looking at a bike for herself next year which leaves me to do what I want without worrying about her comfort. And I just came across a 2014 WideGlide with around 5000miles on it for $14k. Already has stage 1 done and an otherwise unmolested motor, with a 6-speed. And from the current market in the area I think i could get around $10-12k for my deuce(keep in mind this is all CAD). For the extra money it would probly cost me to do the upgrades to the Deuce I could net a newer bike that suits my needs a bit better.

You are looing at $2500-$3000 to build up your Deuce right, assuming you can do the wrenching yourself, fuel management and dyno tuning. Keeping the bike, or not, is the decision point.

Yup I hear ya djl thanks for all the help. Thinking it over I might just wait til I upgrade, I'll look at my current she is just as preventative maintenance but I don't think any other work will get done. I think I could get around $10-12k for my Deuce and all WideGlides I've found in the 2012 and newer years have had less miles and around $13-16k....I may be better off to wait for the trade off instead of doing all the work.

I don't know the CAD_USD exchange rate right now but down here in the lower 48, one would might get $6K on a dealer trade and would have to watch the sell price on the purchase real close to maintain a $6K trade value. In a "retail" sale, one would be lucky to get $9 and most buyers would be pushing for $7.5-$8. So, if I were you I would do some real checking, like take the bike to a dealer, pick out a possible purchase and talk trade, like you really want to buy and find out where the bottom is; then you can make plans based on actual out of pocket. I will ride mine till they put me in the ground. Once you have invested enough in performance, cosmetic and comfort upgrades, it just doesn't make any sense to give it away. I have never been one that felt the need for a six speed but if I get the itch, I can install a Baker unit for a lot less than trading up for a bike with a six speed; that's the way I look at things like that.................

Now, if I absolutely hated the Deuce, wish I had never bought it, etc., etc., maybe I could stomach the hit but I happen to be quite happy with the bike......

The CAD->USD exchange right now is around 1.00USD=1.35CAD...I did some research in the private sale market and I think your about right for dealer trade, if I bought brand new I would Probly get $6-7k on trade, and the private sale market I haven't found a Deuce in Canada listed for less then $10k. I'm 100% with you on the "doing upgrades instead of trading up" part, cause I do that with all my other vehicles, I could rebuild the motor and transmission in one of my older trucks every year for cheaper then a years worth of vehicle payments on a new one.

And your right, I love my Deuce, but I haven't gotten into all the engine upgrades and cosmetic upgrades like you have yet, other then an intake and changing my bars it was all on the previous owner.

I'm still very undecided, but I see it like this kinda:

Deuce value-$10,000
Custom seat upgrade-$1000
95" motor upgrade-$2500-3000
Baker 6-speed upgrade(if I found necessary)-~$5000 after exchange and labour.
Total-$14,000 or more with tranny

Or I found a 2013 FXDWG fully loaded with 2500km on it with a SE stage 1 kit, mustang seats and a lot of other extras included the OEM parts on the side for $16,000 cash.

I could go without the 6-speed, it's just a very nice option for the freeway rides, but IF I got asking price for my Deuce and upgraded to the FXDWG, I'd have all those options and a newer bike for a roughly $2-3000 hit. Other then the fact that the built 95" would probly spank that 103" .....haha decisions decisions! Very complicated stuff but I enjoy the conversations none the less!

Sounds like a plan. Only flaw I see is the part about not seeing and Deuces "listed" for less than $10K when the real question is how many "sold" for $10K. Anyway, good hunting!.........
